About the Cuillin Hills Hotel:

The Cuillin Hills is a small, family run hotel situated in the heart of Portree, on the Isle of Skye. The Hotel is surrounded by 15 acres of private grounds all of which looks out to one of the most breath-taking views Scotland has to offer.

The Isle of Skye is an incredibly popular holiday destination with people visiting from around the world. It is important that the successful candidate is comfortable working in a fast paced environments but most importantly shares our goal, providing guests with the our famous highland hospitality we are known for, ensuring they leave with incredible memories of their experience.


The General Assistant role gives an opportunity for the candidate to work in different departments within the hotel such as Kitchen Porter, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage and Night Porter cover.

Responsibilities may include some of the following:

  • Housekeeping – bedroom changeovers, making bed, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning communal area, dusting, hoovering, mopping

  • Food and Beverage – taking orders, greeting guests, running food/drink, cash handling, clearing and setting tables

  • Kitchen Porter – Emptying bins, helping keep kitchen clean/tidy, cleaning the crockey, pots/pans, putting everything away in an orderly fashion

  • Night Porter (additional pay for night shifts) – Checking guests in/out, setting up for breakfast, general cleaning of hotel communal areas, hotel security


Skills/Qualities Required:

  • Experience is preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided

  • Passion and a genuine interest in hospitality

  • Reliable and trustworthy

  • Comfortable working days and nights

  • Guest focused

  • Great attention to detail

  • Strong communication

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks

  • Confident working independently

  • Ability to follow instructions
